Virtual reality for cows
With VR glasses you can create a realistic image, for example you get the impression of being able to fly like a bird or of being part of a computer game. The technology is also used by police officers and firefighters to prepare for emergencies and terrorist attacks.
Now researchers are using this technique to make cows believe they are standing in a green, lush meadow instead of in a Russian stable.
The researchers want to use this method to increase milk production. The Moscow Region Ministry of Agriculture said that a prototype is already being tested on a farm near Moscow. The VR glasses were adapted to the shape of the cows’ heads.

First results with VR glasses
It can be seen that the cows feel less fear and the entire herd is therefore more peaceful. The first successes have already been seen here. A large-scale study will now be carried out to find out whether this means that the cows produce more milk. According to the ministry, unprecedented results have been achieved in milk production.
Innovative methods to strengthen the market
Due to sanctions, the supply of dairy products in Russia has collapsed. The country is now trying to compete on the international market through innovative methods. For several years now, there has been increased investment in the domestic dairy industry; for example, some companies rely on classical music to stimulate milk production in cows.
