The claim
Allegedly, the Russian side distributed a photo of an ID card found, which is said to show a perpetrator of the explosion on the Crimean bridge.
Our conclusion
The ID was created as a meme, the claim that the man caused the explosion on the Crimean Bridge was intended as a joke. The claim cannot be found in Russian media or accounts.
When information confirms our own opinion, we are all too happy to accept it without giving it a second thought.
This affects everyone, not just Putin fans who believe all propaganda, but also Putin opponents who believe information that is obviously pure trolling: Allegedly an ID card for one of the assassins was found at the Crimean bridge, Russian media would spread this. But the fake was just intended as fun... and not from the Russian side!
The fake ID
Several media and social media accounts circulated the photo of the fake ID, saying it was fake and claiming that Russian media claimed it was the ID of one of the people who caused the Crimean Bridge explosion.

At least one Ukrainian media outlet writes that Russian accounts are circulating the photo of the ID card claiming it belongs to a Ukrainian, which is clear evidence that Ukraine is responsible for the Crimean Bridge explosion.
And yes, the photo of the ID is really a fake. However correctly spelled everywhere, it features Samuel Whitcomb Hyde (Sam Hyde), an American comedian, author, performance artist and actor.

But Sam Hyde is much more...
This is where the widespread articles about the fake ID end. The line is drawn, the claim that Russia would distribute this photo of the fake ID remains. But that only makes it a superficial laugh, which does the Russians an injustice.
Sam Hyde is not only a comedian, but is also very well known for having been involved in several public pranks and internet hoaxes, and he is also often associated
alt-right movement This not only made Hyde a controversial figure, but also a popular meme !

In short: Sam Hyde's face is often used as a joke when an unknown perpetrator, a "lone wolf", is wanted for some situation.
Russian sources? None!
What irritated us: There are constant claims that Russian accounts were distributing the photo, but despite an intensive search, we could only find the claims and never a real Russian source.
Only one particular tweet , in which the claim is first made, is repeatedly used as “evidence”:
A Twitter account called @anno_neemus first posted the ID on October 8th, before it continued to circulate, smeared with bloodstains and clearly reworked. The Twitter name alone is a corruption of “Anonymous,” but the name on the ID reveals even more about the meme troll background.
At the end of September, “Semen Hydenko” is said to have been responsible for the Nord Stream sabotage, and since February 2022 there has also been a Twitter account with the name @HydenkoSemen and the fake ID as a profile picture.
Let's summarize the findings
- There is no Russian source that claims the ID card is genuine
- The first source is a Twitter account that often writes fun tweets with memes and image compositions
- The reactions to this tweet also speak for themselves: many people understand the joke
- Sam Hyde is a meme and is repeatedly shown in photos as the perpetrator of all sorts of things
- The name on the ID most likely indicates a Twitter account, and the name is often used as a pseudonym in memes
So is it likely that Russians will “stick” an American (!) well-known comedian onto an ID card, give him a name that was even translated incorrectly (it shouldn’t say “Hydenko” on the ID card, but “ Khaidenko ”) and that was very clearly manipulated, for example the date of birth?
Or isn't it more like a funny meme and an assertion suddenly became a perceived truth for some people?
Also interesting: A BBC reporter is said to have only posed an acute danger in a report - at least some of the still photos are intended to give this impression.
However, things look different in the original video. – Irpin under fire – BBC reporter stages his report?
