The President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, has been well known beyond the country's borders since the 2018 World Cup final.
Now it is claimed that she has shown fantastic achievements that other politicians should follow as an example. But what is behind the claims?

This is what it says in that post on Facebook that has already been shared and copied thousands of times:
“Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović,
The President of Croatia:
1-Sold the presidential plane.
2-Sold the 35 Mercedes-Benz allocated to ministers and other officials and
returned the money to the treasury.
3-Cut her salary and that of the ministers by half.
4-reduced the expenses and salaries of ambassadors and consulates to 60%.
5-Increases the minimum wage for the private sector.
6-dash retirement for senators and congressmen.
She speaks 7 languages and doesn't think she's HIGHER than anyone else.
It pays respect to the “sovereign” (people) and acts responsibly.”
Needless to say, many users also want such services from local politicians. But let's take a structured look at the status report.
Where do these claims come from?
The status message on Facebook is not the origin of the allegations, but is a summary of an article on the “ Free World ” site. The site tends to report pro-AfD and anti-migration, homosexuality is also often a topic, and it also defends itself against the term “right-wing”, but at the same time often writes about “left-wing mainstream media”. There is no source evidence for the above claims.
Below we will address each of the claims. You will notice that all the information about the claims has one thing in common.
Claim: She sold the presidential plane
Claim: She sold 35 Mercedes-Benzes
Claim: She cut her and her ministers' salaries in half
Claim: She reduced expenses and salaries of ambassadors and consulates to 60%
Claim: It increases the minimum wage for the private sector
Claim: She eliminated retirement benefits for senators and congressmen
Claim: She speaks 7 languages
Conclusion
The claims are almost all false. Most of these allegations apply to Joyce Banda, who was president of the landlocked country of Malawi from 2012 to 2014. In April 2014, the summary of her (almost) achievements appeared for the first time. These have now been redirected in an article and also in Facebook postings to the current Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
[Update: July 19, 2018] For a better understanding, we have created a small graphic here. Above you can see the post again with the statements about the Croatian president, below a blog post from 2014 about the Malawian president. We have marked the similarities between the statements about the respective president in a color that matches each other.

What a pity…
We would like to confirm these claims. Due to the general frustration with politics, which gives one the subjective impression that politicians do nothing or are just lining their own pockets, such a politician would represent a ray of hope. And at least a politician showed at least some of this commitment a few years ago, which in turn gives hope that it is not impossible.
And even if this list is not correct, it at least represents a nice list for local politicians that they should perhaps take to heart.
