I'm sorry, what? The football team from Croatia donates their World Cup prize money?
It was not meant to be. Contrary to reports from many news portals, the Croatian World Cup team will not donate its prize money of 23.6 million euros. They were all on a fake!
but one after anonther
The Facebook page “ Hrvatska nogometna reprezentacija ” (in German: “Croatian football team”) published a long post on July 16th Zlatko Dalić , coach of the Croatian national team, at least it is signed with that name.
It should be mentioned that the Facebook page mentioned above is not fan page designed by Momentum Media
The Origin – The Parallel Universe
Igor Premuzic ’s site on July 13th .

It was actually clear
The letter not only states that the team is donating all of its income, but also politically provocative things, for example that he asks that the national team does not want any photos with politicians, nor visits in the dressing room, “as they are corrupt “Do not want to support the system”. Apparently this and other points were completely overlooked, only this one point was picked out:
“Svi nogometaši, kao i nogometni stožer, ovim putem obavještavaju javnost da će sav prihod od novčanih nagrada sa Svjetskog prvenstva u Rusiji uplatiti u poseban fond za djecu Hrvatske.”
In English: “All football players as well as the football team inform the public that these all Proceeds from the Russian World Cup will be put into a special fund for children from Croatia.”
The true creator clarifies himself
After the supposedly open letter from the Croatian coach went viral on the same day, Igor Premuzic wrote on July 14th that the letter he had written was a “social experiment”. For example, he says:
„The experiment and the public awareness of the topic showed interesting results. The text of a “Parallel Universe” has shown that a large majority of people have not even read this text. „
Maybe they'll donate after all?
It is of course possible that the World Cup team will decide afterwards to actually donate all of their income. However, all reports are currently only based on that public letter, which can be seen from the fact that the same wording that appears in the fake letter appears again and again, namely that they want to support the starving children of Croatia, who are supposed to spend a week at the sea.
Conclusion
No, the report that the Croatian World Cup team is donating all of its income is unfortunately not true. The origin of the false report was a false open letter.
Update July 19, 2018 4:00 p.m
In the meantime we received a statement from Croatia.
“This statement was indeed not issued or written by Head Coach Zlatko Dalić. In fact, when the fake statement first appeared, even the author himself stated at the end that this was not an official statement and that it had not been written by Mr. Dalić. No statements on the World Cup prize money have been made by either the Head Coach or anyone else within the Croatian Football Federation or the Croatian national team.”
