Fraudulent online acquaintances are not aimed at getting to know you better. They build trust to later lure you to fake crypto/investment platforms. If your Tinder match gives you tips on lucrative investments or adds you to a group, alarm bells should ring. Break off contact and don't invest, advises our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet .
Kim only wants what's best for Paul: his money
Paul has been writing to his new Tinder acquaintance Kim for a few days now. They hit it off straight away, pursue similar hobbies and have a lot in common. It's almost like they've known each other forever. At some point Kim talks about her brother, who works in the investment industry. She gives Paul insider tips and offers to make contact with him.
Criminals purposefully build trust
For the crypto love scam, criminals create fake profiles on dating apps and fill them with stolen photos from public Instagram profiles. The fake profiles include both men and women. During a match, the fake people try to find out as much as possible about their counterpart. Information shared on Facebook, Instagram and Co is worth its weight in gold. Even if it's just a book you liked, a concert photo you posted, or a photo of you exercising. The criminals use this information and use it to generate the supposedly perfect Tinder match. This gives you the feeling that the online acquaintance is a good fit for you. Intensive and profound communication also creates a basis of trust.
Internet acquaintances recommend investment platforms
At some point, your internet acquaintance will talk about the topic of investing. The person has e.g. E.g. siblings, acquaintances or relatives who know each other well. She would be happy to make contact.
She then adds you to a Telegram group that writes about high-profit crypto investment platforms. The recommended platforms usually seem reputable and are particularly attractive with automated trading and individual advisors. In addition, online acquaintances motivate you to invest.
Fraudulent investment platform
To register with the platform, enter your phone number. Personal advisors will then contact you and give you precise instructions on how to invest. As a rule, you will win soon. This motivates you to deposit larger amounts. The consultants and your online acquaintances will encourage you to do this.
The fraud is usually only noticed when you request a payout. That doesn't work. The advisors then explain that a payout is not technically possible at the moment. Often your profile is simply blocked or the advisors are simply no longer available. The money is lost. Away! Zack, not only was my heart broken, my wallet was also raided. The perfect crypto lovescam.
