The Internet offers incredible opportunities for education, communication, shopping and much more, but there are also dark sides such as cyber trading. A scam that has gotten many unsuspecting people into financial difficulties is the promise of making big money with just a stake of 250 euros. But as always, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't true. We at Mimikama warn: stay away!

Social media and the internet are full of tempting offers. One of them promises that you can make a high profit by investing just 250 euros. Seriousness is intended to be conveyed through images of celebrities who supposedly promote this type of investment. However, the reality is different, as the criminal investigation department at the Ravensburg police headquarters recently discovered.

MIMIKAMA

The beginning of the end

It usually starts harmlessly. You click on the link that is offered to you via social media. Then you enter your personal data. Hoping to make big money with just a 250 euro stake. But that's just where the trouble begins.

The friendly “financial advisors”

A “financial advisor” who will contact you soon promises trustful and intensive individual support. But in reality, these people are not financial advisors, but rather well-trained fraudsters who only have one thing in mind: your money. They work in large call centers and are trained to make you feel like they only want the best for you. They only want one thing: their money.

With increasing pressure, the “advisors” try to get you to invest even more money. You will be given access to a supposed trading account. There you will supposedly see high returns. In reality, however, it is a fake.

The “payment” of winnings

The fraudsters still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Now you will be asked to pay taxes, fees and other costs in order to withdraw your “winnings”.

The total loss of control

And because they are so “helpful,” they also persuade you to install remote maintenance software to help you with further investments.

By installing this remote maintenance software, fraudsters now have full access to your accounts. Now you are in a debt trap and the drama continues.

The second impostor

After realizing that you are being cheated, another “helper” appears. He promises you that he will make up for your losses. But instead of helping, it only causes further financial damage, increasing the overall loss even further.

All that's left is to go to the police

Many of those affected have already had to make the bitter journey to the police and debt counseling. In some cases, six-figure damage was incurred.

Conclusion and warning

We warn against this scam. Do not blindly believe offers and promises on the Internet or on the phone. High returns above market rates should always arouse suspicion.

  • Talk to your friends, acquaintances and relatives about this scam and warn them about it.
  • Be alert and skeptical of promises that sound too good to be true.
  • Always remember: no one has money to give away!

Let's work together to ensure that fraudsters have no chance. Because only together can we make a difference and ensure that the Internet remains a safe place for all of us.
