The claim
In a currently circulating video from Ukraine, a young person can be seen dancing in front of a swastika on an interactive wall.
Our conclusion
The video is from January 2021, and the local press in Dnipro also reported on it. The use of the swastika and other National Socialist symbols is also punishable in Ukraine; “Nazi tolerance” cannot be inferred from the video.
One of the reasons for war that Putin gave from the beginning was the “denazification” of Ukraine, for which no concrete evidence was provided, but now and again apparent evidence is shown by pro-Putin pages and accounts.
The most recent example is a real video from Ukraine in which a teenager dances in front of an interactive board with a swastika on it. Does this prove “Nazi tolerance” in Ukraine? Rather not.
The distributed video
The video was widely shared on the Internet just a few days ago, for example on Twitter , YouTube and Facebook . Here is a screenshot of the video:

The video is only 13 seconds long. A black swastika can be seen on a red background on an interactive board where you can rotate blocks to create an image. In front of the blackboard, a young person dances to a song about the nationalist Ukrainian politician Stepan Bandera . A second teenager is also filming the scene; Christmas decorations can be seen all around.

The origin of the video
The Christmas decorations naturally give the impression that the video is current, even though in Ukraine Orthodox Christmas has only been celebrated in January, but this year it is celebrated for the first time on December 25th in order to break with Russian tradition.
In fact, it was created a few days after Orthodox Christmas last year, specifically on January 11, 2021 . The news site Dnepr News reported at the time :
“On Monday evening, January 11, a group of young people in Dnipro placed a swastika on a pixel wall. The video of the incident was published by Telegram channel hyeuvy_dnepr [The watermark visible in the video] .

The video shows a young man dancing to a song about Stepan Bandera in front of a pixel wall with a swastika. We would like to point out that the use of communist and Nazi symbols in Ukraine is a criminal offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison.”

The pixel wall
As an art project, this pixel wall has been standing on Korolenko Street in Dnipro since mid-2020 On the tricolor wall, every citizen can now make any picture they want using the movable, triangular 1,200 pieces in the colors pink, black and blue.
However, the wall is also used for less artistic pictures, as has been shown again and again over time:
Swastikas are also punishable in Ukraine
This is repeatedly emphasized in articles about vandalism, but at the same time the judiciary is also denounced, which often seems to act selectively. An article from September 9, 2021 reported that swastikas, SS runes and other graffiti were discovered in Dnipro.
However, it was also criticized that although the use of these symbols is prohibited and can result in a maximum sentence of 5 years, citizens are less often prosecuted for this, but are punished more often when symbols are used that are associated with the former Soviet Union be associated.
But there is another way, as this example shows:
In April 2016 , a hooligan who had repeatedly attracted attention through systematic pro-Russian spraying campaigns in the previous years wanted to spray a swastika on the ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region, but was stopped by citizens .
The citizens even went a little further: Before handing the hooligan over to the police, they painted him blue .
Conclusion
So in the end we have the video of young people who made a swastika on the pixel wall in January 2021 and had fun with it. But there are other people who like to smear swastikas, and the hooligan mentioned above is certainly not the only one.
But can one conclude from this that Ukraine should be “denazified”? Because if so, then all it takes is a long walk in a major German city like Berlin or Frankfurt to simply photograph all the graffiti with swastikas there - because that would also be proof that Germany also needs to be “denazified”.
In other words: there are idiots everywhere, including in Ukraine. But in Ukraine, more attention is now being paid to this because there are enough people who actually believe that the country is ruled by Nazis and therefore needs to be liberated through a “special operation”. It should be clear to everyone by now that Putin doesn't care one bit.
The video is real and from Ukraine, albeit from January 2021, so not current. The city of Dnipro, where the video was taken, has not yet been conquered by Russia and is actually relatively safe , but has been bombed frequently, most recently at the end of November . But to draw a “Nazi tolerance” from this is wrong.
Also interesting: In a video, Elon Musk seems to say that he now also wants to buy Meta, and of course he also owns Facebook and Instagram.
However, he also says that he loves Angelina Jolie and Mimikama... 😉 - Does Elon Musk now also want to buy Meta? No!
