This is also an important topic for people with reading disabilities. The Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM) and the Aktion Jugendschutz Bayern eV (aj) are publishing a new brochure in simple language today for Safer Internet Day.

“It is very important to the state headquarters to continually set an example against hatred, extremism and violence and thus reach as many people as possible. I am all the more pleased that BLM and aj are closing a gap with the new brochure. The important and current topic of conspiracy myths and fake news is also made accessible to people with reading disabilities. At this point, I would also like to thank the Bavarian Minister of Social Affairs, Ulrike Scharf, for her great support.”

Ulrike Scharf, State Minister for Family, Labor and Social Affairs, emphasizes:

“Bavaria is a country of opportunity for everyone! Dealing with disinformation, conspiracy myths and fake news is also an important topic for people with reading disabilities. Unfortunately, there are not always simple answers to complex questions. I am all the more pleased that with this brochure in simple language we are giving our children and young people more orientation and supporting them in seeing through conspiracy myths, lies and fake news more quickly. The publication not only makes an important contribution to greater inclusion on today's Safer Internet Day! My thanks go to our long-standing partners, the youth protection campaign, the Landesarbeitsstelle Bayern e. V., which, in cooperation with the BLM, published this brochure in simple language, which we supported financially.”

The basis for the new issue is the publication “From the flat earth to the lying press: Why conspiracy myths are a problem and what parents and professionals can do about it” by BLM and aj from 2021. The content was designed for the “easy language” target group shortened and greatly simplified and the design revised.

Easy language is a language concept that has been simplified to the maximum, e.g. for people with cognitive limitations, mental disabilities or little knowledge of German. Texts in easy language are characterized by an appearance that makes reading easier and by a strong simplification of the content. This is how the original title became: “Dangerous conspiracy stories: What you can do about it”.

The joint publication by BLM and aj will be published in a total print run of 6,000 copies. available for download in the Aktion Jugendschutz Bayern web shop at https://materials.aj-bayern.de and on the BLM website In Bavaria, it can also be ordered here as a print version free of charge.
