And again a large number of Facebook accounts are affected, friends send supposed YouTube links and many people click on them in good faith.

Once again, Facebook is overwhelmed by a wave of dubious “YouTube links” that are spread via the Facebook messaging function. This is a trap and also a swamp of aggressive spam advertising. But let's start at the beginning in the circular method: It all starts with a private message from a friend's Facebook account!

This message comes suddenly and contains two emojis and the recipient's first name, as well as a link to a status message that has the YouTube logo as a preview image. At this point there is no danger for the recipient, the message does not contain a virus, nor would a click trigger an unwanted action.

Unreserved warning!

The process of this fraud variant has NOT changed: You are lured to a website via a private message using a supposed YouTube link. Apparently you now have to log in to Facebook again to see the video.

Anyone who thinks they have to enter their own data is giving their access data to the fraudsters who are responsible for this YouTube method. They then have access to the Facebook account, which they can use within a few minutes! But that's not all. If you are also an admin of Facebook groups or Facebook pages with your profile, then there is a risk that these will also be taken over.

If your Facebook account has been cracked through the dubious “YouTube.Links”, then ….

1) Please change your Facebook account password immediately.
2) Inform your friends list about the mishap.
3) Have your computer scanned for malware .
4) If necessary, remove all harmful browser extensions in your browser and also check whether there are any other extensions/add-ons in the browser that you have not installed or that you are not aware of.
5) Contact Facebook directly: If you believe your account has been hacked or taken over, you should visit this page on Facebook to protect your account. Facebook will ask you to change your password and review your last login activity.
