A picture of what appears to be a child bride, next to an older Muslim. The girl is said to be his wife, it is claimed in the picture.
This picture is currently being distributed:
The picture says translated in German:
“This is my wife
And it is 100% legal
Under Sharia law
This is a fact
Coming soon to you”
This is commented on:
“Living out pedophilia – it’s OK in Islam!!!
There are many reasons why Islam finds so many supporters in the West and especially among the
Left-Greens!
Now also in Germany because we are so culturally sensitive!!!”
Fact check – The picture
The picture is from May 2016. You don't see a child bride with her husband, but rather this is just one of many pictures of a celebration in a kindergarten / Koranic school in the Turkish city of Elazığ.
The specific picture shows the head of the kindergarten with his 6-year-old daughter. The children celebrated the completion of their Koran training there and dressed up.

This was reported in many Turkish media because the girl's disguise as a bride gave the wrong impression: child marriages are banned in Turkey.
Fact Check – The Claim
According to Sharia law, marriage with children is permitted, that is correct. It's just that Sharia law doesn't apply in Germany. We have already reported that it is a challenge for the courts to determine how refugees who married under Sharia law in their homeland should be legally dealt with in this country.
Now we have to look at Sharia law. This is not a legal code, but a collective term for laws and regulations that emerge from the Koran and are often used . However, the Koran dates back to the 7th century and is partly contradictory and very difficult to write, so that Sharia law is often only a matter of interpretation.
But what does it look like in the Koran?
There are pretty clear statements when it comes to marriage with children:
A child must reach sexual maturity and have the rationality to enter into a marriage.
In most Islamic countries there is a minimum age of 16 for girls and 18 for boys to marry. Nevertheless, in some countries, biological maturity is actually used as the point at which marriage is possible. In Turkey, where the above picture was taken, marriage under the age of 17 is forbidden and is subject to criminal prosecution.
Summary
Sharia law allows child marriage in one of many interpretations, but this law is only followed by radical Islamists, not by the “average” moderate Islam. In addition, this right does not apply in Germany, so the statement “coming soon near you” is fundamentally wrong.
According to the Koran, such child marriage is an exception rather than a rule. Biological maturity must be reached and the child must also be fully aware of the consequences of marriage. Apart from that, in most Islamic countries there is a minimum age of 16 years.
The picture also does not show a husband with a child bride, but the head of a Turkish kindergarten / Koran school with his 6-year-old daughter in costume to celebrate the completion of her Koran training.
The image must therefore be classified as incorrect .
