More and more apps on smartphones or tablets want to collect information. Most of the time, the reason behind this is that personalized advertising can be displayed that matches your interests. cooperation partner checked4you summarized how you can “mute” the necessary advertising ID
Since iOS 14.5, users have been asked for their permission to do this. If you agree, the various applications can also access the so-called “advertising ID” or “ad ID”.
In general, you can accept or reject this setting even in older versions.
Instructions for iOS

In the “Settings” tap “Privacy”, then click “Advertising” (or “Apple Advertising”) and use the slider to deactivate/activate “No Ad Tracking” or “Personalized Advertising”.
Instructions for Android

In the smartphone's "Settings" tap "Google", then tap "Ads" (or "Advertising") and select "Deactivate personalized advertising". You can also use this opportunity to reset the advertising ID. This will create a new one.
If you click on “Reset advertising ID”, all apps will suddenly forget your preferences and interests. The advertising ID is linked to the respective user account and therefore applies to every device with which you log in to Google or Apple.
Note: Depending on the version of your operating system, the menu items shown in our images may have different names. Basically, the click paths are the same and should be found in our screenshots.
Which apps have which rights on your smartphone?
Which rights or access rights the different apps grant each other is displayed before installation. If you have already installed an app and want to check it, you can open the “Settings” on Android , go to “Apps” (or “Applications”) and check the respective apps to see what permissions are possible here.
On iOS, you select “Data protection” and the corresponding areas under “Settings”. Apps that access it are then summarized here.
