Be careful – data collectors try to lure users with an Adidas competition. It is questionable whether the promised profit even exists.

Data collectors lure with Adidas competition

Those who take part leave their data to a number of sponsors.
They can then bombard you with a flood of advertising.

Data collectors are still trying to lure users with supposedly free Adidas shoes. The bait appears in the form of a sponsored advertising post on Facebook or is posted directly by friends. The reason: Sharing the post with others is a condition of the “competition”.

Note: Adidas has absolutely nothing to do with these competitions.  The company's well-known name was simply used as bait.

But if you want the 2 free pairs of shoes, you must first click on the link provided. We do that and end up on an external website. The URL immediately shows that we are not on any Adidas website. However, in order to mislead potential participants, the data collectors shamelessly use the logo of the well-known brand and formulate the text as if it came from Adidas itself. (“It’s our anniversary!”)

Apparently, in addition to the free shoes, there is also an opportunity to win a 250 euro voucher. In this case, it is not clear what exactly the number “remaining: 336” refers to – shoes? Vouchers? Or are the shoes the voucher?

In any case, lucky for us, we are supposed to answer a few questions. By the way, it doesn’t matter which answers you choose in this survey – you always “win” in any case. Why? Because it's not about a pair of shoes or a voucher, but rather that you share your data with the real creators of the competition.

Once the question round has been completed, in the next step we receive the information that we have qualified for shoes worth 250 euros. Aha! So the voucher and the shoes are the same thing!

And now that's exactly why you were able to see this post yourself - in order to ultimately have a chance to win the voucher, you should share the competition on Facebook. This is how your friends find out about it. Only then can you click on the “Collect prize” button, which will take you to an input mask.

Anyone who enters their data here not only leaves it with the data collectors, but also has to make it available to a number of different sponsors. They can then inform the participant about offers from their respective business area. And by informing we mean a deluge of advertising via email, telephone, push messages and/or post…

We have seen this exact method several times before. Also with other vouchers as a lure. The following companies, among others, kept coming to our attention: Naturvel PTE. LTO, adpublisher, red lemon media GmbH, Lead Spot Media, Proleagion, Spar Advisor Ltd., Planet49, Green Flamingo and others.
