Deactivating the channels: is it possible?
WhatsApp, the most popular messenger in the world, is once again surprising with a new function. This time it is the “channels” through which stars, companies and organizations can post status updates.
But can you turn this feature off if you don't want to see it? Here is the answer.
What are these “channels” exactly?
Channels are a new feature that can be found in the “What’s New” section of WhatsApp.
– We previously knew “current” as “status”. Here, celebrities, companies and other large organizations can send status updates and messages to their followers.
Can you deactivate the feature?
Simply put: no. The feature cannot currently be hidden or disabled directly. If you feel disturbed by this function, you only have one option: simply ignore the “channels”. This means not following any of them to avoid receiving status updates. – Just because it’s there doesn’t necessarily mean you have to use it.
Alternative: Back to the old update?
If you want to completely remove this area from your view, you could theoretically install an older version of WhatsApp. However, this is not recommended. Older versions are often error-prone and lack security updates. This can lead to the messenger no longer working properly.
How to adapt to the new
Even if some innovations are initially rejected, many users get used to them over time. One piece of advice would be to simply ignore the “News” section or treat it as an additional source of information, especially if you follow specific organizations or personalities.
Conclusion
The channels are there and it looks like they're here to stay. It is always important to be informed and adapt to the new features rather than resisting them. It's up to us how we deal with the changes. Stay safe and informed!
