There is a lot of excitement caused by an article that claims that experiments with 5G, the upcoming standard for mobile phone frequencies, caused hundreds of birds to suddenly die in The Hague in the Netherlands.
The website “ connectiv events ” writes that large flocks of migratory birds gathered in The Hague and “suddenly” hundreds of them lay dead on the ground.
They are said to have all died of heart failure and were all physically healthy. There were also no signs of poisoning or bacterial infections. “The only reasonable explanation,” the site says, is microwave radiation, and this radiation in turn was caused by 5G tests that were being carried out at the time between a building in The Hague and the train station.
A week later, dead birds were found again at the same time. At that time, ducks on the Jungfernkai are also said to have stuck their heads in the water as if they wanted to hide from the radiation. Radiation with a peak frequency of 7.40 GHz was measured.

What is 5G?
5G is the next generation of wireless broadband technology. The technology offers higher speeds and better coverage compared to the current 4G. 5G mobile communications uses different frequency ranges, but by no means 5 GHz and not the same frequencies as 5 GHz WLAN, because it would then interfere with all WLAN devices. The frequencies are different; Apart from country differences, different network providers use different frequencies. e.g. T-Mobile USA will use 600 MHz and 28 GHz. The frequencies planned in Europe are 3400 – 3800 MHz and 24.25 – 27.5 GHz as well as 31.8 – 33.4 GHz. (edit)
Fact check 1: The dead birds
In fact, hundreds of birds died in The Hague, which was also widely reported by . There were also reports of dogs becoming sick after visiting the park.
But did the birds all die suddenly?
The regional bird sanctuary “ Vogelopfang de Wulp ” listed a chronology of events:
October 19, 2018: 30 dead starlings
October 24, 2018: 30 dead starlings
October 25, 2018: 88 dead starlings
November 1, 2018: 138 dead, one live starling that died shortly afterwards
November 2, 2018: 7 dead starlings
3. November 2018: 44 dead starlings
All birds were found sleeping under the trees in Huygenspark in The Hague in the morning.
So there was no “sudden death of the birds” as claimed.
The birds, all starlings, were always found in the morning on several days. This means that it can be ruled out that they all suddenly fell from the sky at the same time, and there is no statement in any article about the dead birds that the ducks behaved strangely, nor that the birds died at the same time on different days. Thus, the claims of “connective events” are false .
Fact check 2: The location
According to “connectiv events”, 5G tests took place between an antenna on the roof of the “HS-Telezentrum” and the train station. The antenna is not visible from below, the birds all died in Huygenspark.
You can see the location on Google Maps :

From top to bottom you can see Huygenspark (also spelled Huijgenspark), the corresponding building and The Hague train station.
So the dead birds were actually found near the building and the train station.
In this respect, the statements about “connective events” are correct .
Fact check 3: The cause of death
According to “connectiv events”, all birds were healthy and there were no signs of poisoning or viral diseases.
However, there is no information about this yet!
So far it has only been possible to determine that the birds had no external injuries. The Dutch Food Safety Authority (NVWA) has informed that the death of a large number of starlings in Huygenspark is in no way due to West Nile virus. This virus occurs regularly in migratory birds. The animals also tested negative for Usutuvirus, an avian disease that occurs in blackbirds. It is not yet known whether it is another virus or a poisoning
further investigated by Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (Lelystad), the Netherlands Wildlife Health Center (Utrecht), Erasmus University (Rotterdam) and Ghent University .
The results of the investigations are expected in mid-November 2018. In this respect, the statement that the birds were completely healthy and died of heart failure is premature and wrong , as there is still no solid information about it.
Fact check 4: The 5G tests
In the Netherlands, as in this country, 5G masts are of course being set up and tested. We also found an antenna near the “HS-Telecenter”, but it is a 4G antenna .

Now the question still remains as to where the 5G antennas are located.
But this is not a big secret; it is officially communicated under the project name “ 5Groningen ”. 10 companies come together under the name, including Vodafone, Huawei and Ericsson, which are testing the possibilities of 5G, for example for smart household appliances.
The locations of the 5G antennas are also known and are mentioned on various sites :
– Amsterdam Zuidoost
– on a farm in Drenthe
– In the port of Rotterdam
– on the motorway near Helmond
The above-mentioned bird rescue center “Vogelopvang de Wulp” made a request to the “ Antenna Bureau ” of the Netherlands to inquire about the current status of 5G testing.
Their answer: There are no tests for 5G antennas in The Hague.
Update November 13, 2018
We have now received an answer to our request to the city of The Hague.
“Thank you for your question regarding the dead birds in the Huygenspark in The Hague.
The Dutch Radiocommunications Agency have confirmed to us that there have been no 5G tests around the Huygenspark. At this point, we do not yet have more information regarding the possible cause of death.
As you can see on our site, several research institutions are currently still investigating on the cause of death.”
in German:
“The Dutch radio agency has confirmed to us that there have been no 5G tests in Huygenspark. At this time we do not have any further information about the possible cause of death.”
At this point we would like to thank our Dutch employee Janine from mimikama.nl , who communicated with the city of The Hague.
Therefore, the claim that the birds died due to radiation from a 5G antenna is also false .
Conclusion
The only truth in the connectiv events article is the dead birds and the location. The birds did not die suddenly, but were found dead under the trees over several days. Not all birds were affected, but only starlings. In addition, there are no reports that they always died at the same time, and no ducks were observed to behave strangely.
Furthermore, there is no evidence that there are or were actually 5G tests in The Hague. There have been 5G tests in four different locations in the Netherlands since April 2018
The article from “connectiv events” about birds that died from 5G radiation can therefore be classified as factually incorrect . The witness statements cannot be verified, the description of the events is dramatically exaggerated, the cause of death is invented, the evidence is non-existent.
