Fake competitions on Facebook are not harmless events! The anonymous operators even make death threats if they are exposed.
The summary about death threats and fake competitions:
Users receive death threats via Facebook Messenger after they have repeatedly spoken out against fake competitions. There are even “doxing” strategies in which the addresses of these users are published.
Fake competitions are annoying. You don't win anything, but you are lured into affiliate programs or, in extreme cases, even subscription traps. The participants bear the damage, the winners are the anonymous operators of the fake competitions who collect commissions.

And they don't want to let this source of money be taken away from them; they even make savage insults and death threats when Facebook users want to expose them.
Death threats: “Find your coffin already” [sic]
The threats, which are primarily attempts at intimidation, are received by Facebook users via Messenger after they have repeatedly spoken out on Facebook against fake competitions.

The anonymous operators of the fake sites aren't kidding; the death threats are getting down to business. We have received messages from various users who have contacted us.
You dirty son of a bitch... I will find you and kill you, you dirty son of a bitch,
you piece of shit,
pick your coffin, you dirty son of a bitch

The insults directed at users by fake competition operators is not new! In the last few months it has been noticed more often that users are threatened with a fake competition in the comment columns.
Site operators say in the comments that they will publish user data or misuse it. The aim is to intimidate the relevant people so that they no longer point out fake competitions.
Doxxing
Collecting and publishing user-related data online is called doxing (or doxxing). These intentions are mostly malicious. This is also the case in a current case.
We have a fake competition in which a Facebook user is named as the competition organizer with his complete address and telephone number. This is of course fatal. The data itself was taken from a public telephone directory.
So you can see that fake competition operators go beyond death threats and use illegal methods to virtually pillory people.
Death threats: Facebook's responsibility?
This naturally raises the question of how much Facebook can be held to. On the one hand, the problem of fake competitions is not new and is hardly stopped (or usually too late). On the other hand, the aggressive approaches of fake competition organizers from the recent past cannot be tolerated ( see here ).
Unfortunately, users lack the ability to locate the relevant operators, making it difficult for investigative authorities to take action after a report is made.
Death threats on social media? Nobody can tolerate that. Users must be protected from aggressive messages and threats from fake competition operators.
