Fake DHL website collects data
If you click on the link, you will land on a replica DHL website. There you can supposedly track your package using your email address or tracking number.

In the next step you will be informed that customs fees are due. Apparently €3.99.

Next, personal information such as name, address and telephone number is requested. Finally, you can pay the alleged customs fees by credit card.

Data that you enter on a fake website, a so-called phishing page, ends up directly with criminals.
Criminals store your credit card in Apple Pay
If the fraudsters have your information, they will next try to activate your credit card for Apple Pay on someone else's device. Sometimes you need additional approval for this - depending on your credit card provider. This is e.g. B. a code that you receive via SMS. The criminals will try to get this code. Either the code is requested on the fraudulent website or you receive a call in which the criminals pose as bank employees or DHL. You will be asked to give the code under a made-up pretext. Often the call comes some time later.
Never enter TAN or verification codes on a website. Don't share them over the phone either!
This is what you can do:
- Contact your credit card provider and have your card blocked.
- Beware of scam calls. Criminals may impersonate your bank and demand that you authorize payments or that you authorize payments or logins in your banking or sharing app.
Contact the Ombudsman Office for payment problems
In the case of unjustified credit card debits, as in this case, contacting the ombudsman's office for payment problems at the Ministry of Social Affairs may be helpful. Here you will find the relevant contact details for the ombudsman's office for payment problems .
