For better or worse, the creator of a “breaking news story” currently circulating on Facebook has watched too much “Home Alone.” The men shown are 100% not on a thieving spree in Germany!

Harry and Marvin – these are the names of the fictional characters from the film “Home Alone”. Apparently they are on a thieving spree in Germany and are supposed to be posing as plumbers and water workers.

Everything made up! Well, do you know them both?

Often shared at the moment.

I didn't know that the two of them were now up to mischief here in Germany.
Once again you can see that some people don't think.

Given the occasion!

+++BREAKING NEWS+++ Don't let the two into the house!! She pretends to be a plumber and waterworker! They want to rob you.

The fact check

In fact, the two of them are pretending to be someone else - because they are actors!

Here we see Joe Pesci aka Harry Lime and Daniel Stern aka Marvin “Marv” Merchants. They are known from the film “Home Alone” and portray two crooks who break into houses during the Christmas season. In the first film in the series, “Marv” floods the houses – a trademark, in his opinion.

This joke has been circulating on Facebook for years. Of course, it's only funny for so long if you know the films. But for anyone who doesn't know the films, this “breaking news” will of course sound worrying.

The Heilbronn police have also already clarified this hoax. She explained to users via Facebook that a lot of people seem to take this joke at face value. Unfortunately, this posting can no longer be seen on the Heilbronn Police Facebook page, but fortunately we have a screenshot of it:

#Fakenews

At the weekend there was a report on Facebook in the region that a gang of thieves was on the move in #Neckarsulm and the surrounding area.

THIS MESSAGE IS WRONG!

Kevin probably watched one too many jokes at home alone. The two thieves pictured come from this film.

A few users have already noticed this in the comments of the original post.

Conclusion:

This breaking news is absolute cheese! It's a hoax. The men in the picture are actors and are absolutely not thieving spree in Germany.

Unfortunately, this joke has been on Facebook for years now and is uploaded and shared every year.
