The key to holiday planning is to thoroughly check the offers, especially for supposed bargains on unknown platforms. Fake shops that claim to offer legitimate products and services for advance payment are a common scam used by fraudsters. Therefore, you should never pay in advance, but always choose secure payment methods such as paying by invoice.
Leave your home safely
Another step to stay safe while traveling is to protect your home from potential burglars. A house that appears to be inhabited is an effective deterrent. Ask a trusted neighbor if they could regularly empty your mailbox and open the shutters. Do not give any information about your absence on social networks or on your answering machine and only post your vacation pictures after you return.
On the Street: Stay alert for scammers
When traveling, you should always be vigilant. This applies to both your vehicle - which should always be locked, even if you are away for a short time - and your personal belongings. Valuables and luggage should never be left unattended, especially in large gatherings of people. These places are very popular with pickpockets and other fraudsters.
And the thieves are not just human: in some holiday regions, clever and curious monkeys are known for stealing loose-fitting wallets. Therefore, always protect your valuables by carrying them close to your body, for example in a lockable inner pocket, a neck pouch or a belt bag.
Safety at the destination
After arriving at your holiday destination, it is advisable to leave valuables in a safe or for safekeeping at the hotel or campsite management. Only carry as much cash and payment cards with you as is absolutely necessary.
Security for those staying at home
Those who stay at home can also contribute to safety. If you see suspicious people, unusual alarm systems or calls for help, you should contact the police on the free number 110. All information is evaluated by experts and appropriate measures are taken.
With these tips in hand, you can enjoy your vacation in a relaxed manner, safe in the knowledge that you are well protected both at home and when traveling.
