Digital technologies are changing social relationships in public and private life. Young people are often led to believe that they have false ideals on social media and are unsettled by constructed digital identities. This often creates the impression that you have to constantly improve and optimize yourself. If they don't succeed, self-doubt and a lack of self-confidence increase - especially in a phase of life in which they also search digitally for orientation points in their social environment.
In order to reflect on challenges like these and to show ways in which a healthy digital identity can be developed even under the pressure of online self-presentation, the ÖAW invites you to a two-part workshop as part of the Colloquium Digitale . 30 young people between the ages of 15 and 25 are invited to the topic “Digital Identity: Am I actually good enough for myself? #meandmyavatar: Self-Enhancement and Self-Empowerment on the Internet” and finally develop a vision statement. This statement should be presented to relevant stakeholders as a visually attractive result.
Workshop “Digital Identity”
This workshop was designed by Kathrin Otrel-Cass, professor at the Institute for Educational Research and Teacher Training at the University of Graz, and Matthias C. Kettemann, professor at the Institute for Theory and Future of Law at the University of Innsbruck and involved in the doctoral program “Human Factor in Digital Transformation at the University of Graz”, and is a cooperation between the ÖAW, the University of Graz and the University of Innsbruck. The invitation is aimed at youth groups, clubs, institutions and interested young people. In an initial online planning meeting before the summer holidays, ten topics will be identified that will be discussed in the hybrid workshop in the fall.
The workshop continues the Colloquium Digital event series “Digitization, People and Society” at the ÖAW, which aims to advance the dialogue on digitalization and artificial intelligence in various formats and focus primarily on actively shaping digital transformation.
