If you find an invoice from DDN Hosting in your inbox, you should take a particularly close look.
Email with fake domain invoice
The email about this is very short and concise and anything but personally worded:
“Dear Madam/Mr,
Below are the details of the domain registration for 2023/2024.
We hope to have provided you with sufficient information.
Best regards,
Karin Müller

Fake domain invoice as a PDF in the email attachment
Attached is a PDF file designed as an invoice. We generally warn against opening unknown and unchecked files from unknown providers because, in addition to malware, they could also contain links to dangerous sites.
In this PDF file, the perpetrators are only interested in transferring €291.45 to a bank account in Estonia (EE). Here too, no further details about the alleged domains are given. There is also no name of the invoice recipient there.

We have received more and more of these emails in the last few days. There only seem to be differences in the invoice number and the date.
The police advise
It is important not to react to these bills. Do not transfer money to the specified account in Estonia.
If you have already fallen for this scam, inform your bank immediately. If necessary, the transfer can still be stopped. Unfortunately, this may no longer be possible after just a few minutes.
Then file a report with your local police station.
