Like every social network, Pinterest also has advertising. Recently there has been an increase in dubious online shops for hair styling devices and shaping pants. The products from zevoon.de, valurabeauty.de or lusto.de seem promising, but experience shows that you will be disappointed and receive inferior junk from China. The Mimikama cooperation partner Watchlist-Internet shows which shops you shouldn't order from.

Beware of these Pinterest shops

We took a closer look at the current advertising placements on Pinterest. Our test account predominantly displayed advertising posts for so-called dropshipping shops. Shaping pants that promise a flat stomach and slim legs as well as hair styling devices are advertised. The following dubious shops advertise on Pinterest:

  • zevoon.de
  • trendiez.de
  • valurabeauty.de
  • lusto.de
  • claracamila.de
  • oliviashape-de.store
  • lovuna.de

Dropshipping: what is it?

The shops mentioned are dropshipping shops. Dropshipping shops appear serious. In many cases you have an imprint, contact details and a professional website. You usually come across such shops through advertising on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or Pinterest. Although dropshipping shops are not necessarily fraudulent, numerous problems are inevitable when placing an order.

With dropshipping, the goods are sent directly from the production factories, which are usually located in China, to the consumers. The online shops never see the goods. This is not actually a problem, but in many cases you are not clearly informed about it. According to company data, these are often companies based within the EU. No wonder that many consumers are surprised that a package suddenly arrives from Asia.

What problems do dropshipping shops face?

  • Long delivery times or no delivery at all: Since the products are usually shipped from China, delivery can take several weeks or months. Very often no goods arrive at all! Check the delivery time in the terms and conditions. The online shop must list these and adhere to its information.
  • Inferior goods: Experience shows that the goods do not meet expectations. When the product arrives, it either does not perform its function or is of inferior quality.
  • Payment before receiving the goods: With many dropshippers you have to pay even though the goods have not yet been delivered. Dropshipping shops often offer purchase on account with Klarna. In this case, Klarna is responsible for collecting the invoice amount for the online shop. If you don't pay, Klarna will remind you, charge you reminder fees and threaten to contact the debt collection agency. This is what you can do if you have problems with Klarna.
  • Return impossible: You have the right to return the goods. In practice, however, this is rarely possible. The shops are often unavailable, do not provide a return address or the costs of returning exceed the purchase price. Even if you return it, it is unclear whether you will receive a refund. Always check the return policy before placing an order!
  • Customs costs : Dropshipping shops deliver from China, which means customs duty must be paid for the goods. If the fees are not paid, you will not receive any goods!

How do I recognize dropshipping shops?

  • Products : Dropshipping shops usually have a manageable range. The products are usually all-rounders with many additional functions. For example, a hairdryer that doubles as a straightener and curling iron, stylish shoes with orthopedic functions or strapless bras that promise particularly good support.
  • Price : Prices are usually heavily reduced. The hair styler at valurabeauty.de, for example, only costs €69.95 instead of €139.95.
  • Reviews on the Internet: Search for experiences on the Internet. Very often you will already find warnings online. Fake reviews on the website: To build trust, many dropshippers place posts in the online shop
  • Fake reviews from satisfied customers: Of course, the reviews are always excellent.
  • Imprint & Terms and Conditions: Always check the imprint and contractual conditions for shops you don’t know. Where is the shop located? Where is delivery from? How can I pay? When will delivery take place? Is a return address provided? Who has to pay for the return shipping? Here you will find the most important legal information on delivery times and payment.
