A chain letter is circulating again that aims to lure people to an external website!

We received a tip that this message was making the rounds again - via WhatsApp:

Image in plain text:

I've now received this from a lot of people via WhatsApp

Did you know that when you change your profile picture on Whatsapp, your picture changes but Whatsapp keeps the old one in its archive without your permission. The proof, click on the link and you will see your first profile picture that you put up

We had already received many inquiries about this message in January

However, it is a chain letter !

Luckily, the link doesn't lead to a phishing trap, but you can still safely break the chain if you receive this message.

If you click on the link, you will be redirected to the following page:

MIMIKAMA

The hidden message here should probably be:

You are a donkey!

Someone must have made a joke! Nevertheless: Even if it's a harmless prank at the moment, this message could be misused by criminals to actually smuggle malware, Trojans or viruses onto your device.

Result:

WhatsApp has NOT saved your profile pictures! The message is a joke!

And always remember:

Think first – then click!
