DVDs with religious content were found in mailboxes several times in Göttingen. The police give the all-clear: the DVDs are not poisonous.
The Göttingen police announced via Facebook that DVDs with religious content were found in mailboxes several times in the city area.
The police are aware of similar circumstances and emphasize that there has been no physical contamination in the past and that there is no reason to suspect this in this case either.
Simply distributing DVDs does not constitute a crime.
Background on the topic of “poisoned mail”
Since 2016, there have been repeated warnings about poisoned CDs and envelopes. These are false reports that have already led to a major police operation.
This false report is usually a brown envelope from “Mensch für Mensch” Karlheinz Böhm Ethiopia Aid. Apparently the CD in the envelope contained a chemical substance that paralyzed the respiratory system.

The foundation already commented on the false reports in 2016:
False warning about allegedly poisoned CDs Munich, December 13, 2016.
Messages have been circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp for several days warning of an allegedly poisoned CD. In the picture, an envelope from the People for People Foundation appears again and again, with which a Christmas CD was sent to donors in mid-November.
“We are extremely angry about this denigration and misuse of our Christmas letter and will file criminal charges against unknown persons,” says Dr. Sebastian Brandis, board member of the People for People Foundation – Karlheinz Böhms Ethiopiahilfe on Tuesday (December 13, 2016) in Munich.
For days now, the foundation (www.menschenfuermenschen.org) has been receiving repeated inquiries from worried and uncertain people throughout Germany. Numerous police departments have also had to deal with these dubious warnings in the past few days and have confirmed several times that it is a false report.
“We request all people not to post or share the said hoax. Any further spread harms the people who need the support of our organization every day,” emphasizes Sebastian Brandis.
