Once a WhatsApp message has been sent, it can be subsequently deleted, but NOT edited. This could change now!

WhatsApp is apparently working on a function that allows users to subsequently edit messages that have already been sent. This is reported by WABetainfo , a site that is often known for communicating WhatsApp information in advance.
The function is to be developed for one of the upcoming beta versions. However, WABetainfo cannot yet say when exactly users will be able to subsequently edit messages. The subsequent changes should work for WhatsApp messages that have already been sent for Android, iOS and the desktop version.
It is also unclear whether and when the function will actually find its way into the official version of the messenger. It is also not known to what extent messages can be edited and whether the changes are visible to the recipient.
