Website owners beware - fraudsters are currently sending emails in the name of DNS that could lead to a loss of money.
Emails from DNS Germany, DNS Switzerland and DNS Austria are attempted fraud
Website owners are currently receiving emails from a company that supposedly registers domain names.
Recipients of the email should not transfer any money. It is an attempted fraud.
Numerous website owners are currently receiving an email from DNS Austria - a company that supposedly registers domain names. You will be informed that someone wants to register your domain with a different extension. You will be offered the opportunity to purchase this domain beforehand. Do not transfer money to DNS Austria, it is a fraudulent practice and the company does not exist.

The domain is the key to your company and of course it is worth protecting. Criminals take this as an opportunity and pose as a registration authority for domain names. They claim that third parties want to register your domain with a different extension. However, they offer you the option to purchase the requested domain first. Registration would cost €199.50 for 10 years. Do not reply to this email or transfer any money! It is an attempted fraud.

What does DNS Austria write?
Many domain owners are currently receiving the following email:
Dear Sir / Madam,
One of our customers has submitted a registration application for the domain name www.your-domain-example123.org. Since you are the owner of www.your-domain-example123.at, we would like to inform you about this application.
If our customer registers this name, it could have serious consequences for your company. This can cause confusion in Google search results because a third party is using the same name. In the worst case, this can even result in damage to your image.
However, you have the option to register the domain name yourself. As the owner of www.ihre-domain-example123.at, you have the first opportunity to register with us. This way you avoid problems with another company operating under the same name.
Are you interested in this option? Here are all the conditions:
– The cost of this name is 19.95 euros per year. We will register this name for a period of 10 years, which means you pay a one-off fee of 199.50 euros;
– You can cancel this name after one year, which means you will be reimbursed for the remaining years. After cancellation, we will refund you the fee within 10 business days;
– To complete your registration, we need your company name, address and VAT number. We will reject the third party and register the name for you. This is a non-binding offer. You don't have to do anything, but it is recommended that you register this name. This can prevent problems in the near future. Do you have anymore questions? Please feel free to email us with your questions. If you would like to have www.your-domain-example123.at.at, send us your company details for the invoice.
Best regards,
Simon Moser

www.dnsaustria.com
dnsaustria.com is fake
The email comes from the company DNS Austria. However, this is a fraudulent company that doesn't actually exist. The company's website appears serious at first glance.

However, a closer inspection shows that it is a fake company. You can see this, for example, by the lack of an imprint! Furthermore, registering a domain costs far less than what the supposed company charges for it!
Tip
Register your domain with different top-level domains. This way you don't run the risk of becoming a victim of criminals. It is a lucrative business for criminals to buy a domain that is very similar to your domain and fill it with inappropriate content.
The criminals then force you to buy this domain from them at a high price. Therefore: take precautions and register different top-level domains!
