How to: Sync Facebook Messenger and Instagram contacts
As our cooperation partner checked4you knows, not everyone likes the fact that Facebook Messenger can now also import contacts from Instagram. We explain how you can activate and undo synchronization.
Facebook Messenger can now also import contacts from Instagram. A striking red dot attracts your finger to the contact symbol. After that, the “Connect to Instagram” option will appear. When you tap that, Messenger will import your contacts from Instagram.
This can then lead to other Messenger users also finding out your Instagram name. Maybe there are reasons why that shouldn't happen.
And the description “Connect to Instagram” doesn’t necessarily indicate that this will pull all Insta contacts into Messenger and allow others to see your profile there.
After Messenger has imported your Instagram contacts, the “Connect to Instagram” menu item will disappear. You can then stop the synchronization again using the following method:
Messenger contacts
The red dots at the bottom and in the menu indicate that Facebook Messenger can now also connect to Instagram. This will import your Instagram contacts into Messenger.

After you tap the button, it disappears. You can then stop the constant data synchronization between Messenger and Instagram via the settings. To do this, tap on your profile picture (top right on Android).

Then you have to scroll down a bit and tap “People”.

Here you tap on “Instagram Account”.

In the last step you confirm that you want to cancel the connection.

By stopping the synchronization, the entries that the messenger has pulled from Instagram are automatically removed from the messenger - at least those with which you have not yet started a conversation. If that doesn't work, you can manage and delete your Messenger contacts this page in the Facebook settings
We would like to point out that Facebook had the contact details for this time. We cannot estimate what they have done with analyzes, advertising, etc. during this time.
