Strong concerns that user data is inadequately protected
Mozilla , the operator of the popular Firefox web browser, no longer wants to advertise on the largest of all social platforms in light of the current data scandal on Facebook. In a statement, Mozilla management expressed serious concerns that Facebook's default privacy settings were not strong enough to adequately protect user data from third parties.
Criticism of third-party apps
“If Facebook takes a stronger stance against sharing customer data, particularly in strengthening default privacy settings for third-party apps, we will consider returning,”
is what the Firefox makers say. Mozilla says it has taken an independent look at Facebook's default privacy settings. In this context, it would have been found that the settings “leave access to a lot of data open – especially in relation to the settings for third-party apps”.
“Facebook knows a lot about its two billion users – perhaps more intimate information than any other company. They know everything we click or like on their website and who our closest friends and relationships are. Due to its size, Facebook has become one of the most convenient platforms. “We are currently confident because Mark Zuckerberg has promised to improve privacy settings and make Facebook more secure,”
Mozilla concluded.
