With the Facebook News tab, a new news service is launching, initially in the USA.
To do this, Facebook brings several media partners on board and pays for their content. The aim is to be able to provide a “news tab” with high-quality content. In addition to a number of regional daily newspapers and other large media outlets such as USA Today and The Wall Street Journal, Breitbart is also among the partners.
What is Breitbart?
Breitbart is a right-wing populist portal and was founded by Andrew Breitbart. After his death, Steve Bannon expanded it into a platform for “white nationalists.” Breitbart has repeatedly been accused of incorrect reporting and incitement against immigrants and black people. Wikipedia even declared Breitbart an unreliable source in 2018.

An official list of all partners has not yet been published, but Mark Zuckerberg had to give a presentation to justify why Breitbart should be included in the program. His not very satisfactory answer was that diverse political views should be available. Facebook does not want to intervene in political content and does not want to be a referee.
Although there is a fact-checking team on Facebook, this does not deal with postings by politicians and even if content is classified as incorrect, it is not removed, but only given a note.
