Facebook is helping with a new feature when it comes to love

“Facebook Dating” will soon be starting with us! – The most important thing at the beginning:

  1. Facebook is creating the largest dating platform and could displace market leader Tinder
  2. Additional features will be integrated into the Facebook app via an update
  3. Own dating profile only visible to specified users

The new additional feature has already been tested in 20 countries and will soon be launched in Germany. Facebook is probably creating the largest dating platform. With an additional feature it is even possible to give the secret crush a chance.

“Facebook Dating” – social media when it comes to love

Pot is looking for a lid – Facebook supports the search for suitable partners using an algorithm. Common interests, activities and biographies act as a basis here. At the same time, the “Facebook Dating” app should also protect the privacy of its users.

This additional function has been tested in Colombia since September 2018, followed shortly afterwards by Canada and Thailand. The dating platform was tested in the USA last fall and the feature has now been activated for 20 countries. An expansion to other countries is imminent, and Germany will soon also benefit from the new feature.

2.4 billion users worldwide also means that Facebook could displace the current market leader “Tinder” if the app convinces its users.

Family and friends excluded

Initially, no new app is required for the flirt portal; the dating feature will be implemented in the existing Facebook app with an update. A one-time registration is necessary; use is not possible on the computer but only in the smartphone app. Every user can activate it, switch it off again or even pause it for a while.
If you create a profile, you can access your data from Facebook or link your own Instagram account and take photos from there.

You can also specify who can see your own dating profile. Friends and family are automatically excluded. You can expand this, for example to include the user group “friends of friends”, and thus avoid possible embarrassing situations.

A like is worth a thousand words

The swipe-and-away gesture known from Tinder will not be available on Facebook. A good old like is enough to show your interest. If you think partner suggestions are unsuitable, you can remove them from the list. There is also no need for a “match” to occur before messages can be sent. But Facebook relies on security for its users: In order to at least contain inappropriate messages, it is not possible to send images, videos or links.

Secret crushes

Another option is the “Secret Crush” function. Here, users can add up to nine of their Facebook friends to a list of their personal “secret crushes”. If the person in question also has a “secret crush” on you, this will be reported to both. Who knows what surprises you can experience here.

There is no exact date for the launch in Germany yet, but Facebook is already promoting it with a banner in the news feed:

“Soon there will be a separate dating area where you can meet interesting people.”
