Facebook is setting up an independent committee to allow users to appeal deleted content.
Facebook: External review of content! – The most important thing at the beginning:
Too many or too few posts are deleted. The removal of hate speech is too slow. An independent committee is now to be set up.
Establishment of an independent body
Facebook is responding to criticism that too many or too few posts are being removed and that the deletion of hate speech, terrorist propaganda and violence is not happening quickly enough. An independent oversight board will be established where users can appeal Facebook's content decisions.

In an article in the Financial Times , Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook is now working on enabling external reviews when deleting content. He also repeated his call for politicians to give online companies guard rails through more and better regulation. This also includes data portability – the right of users to transfer their data from one service provider to another.
“Without clear rules on portability, strict data protection rules encourage companies to keep information under lock and key and not share it with others in order to avoid regulatory risks,” said Zuckerberg.
Facebook: Control over user data
Only recently did Facebook make it visible to its users what data the online giant receives from other websites and apps, giving its users a little more control over it.
There are still open questions with the current regulations, such as how to decide who owns certain data, notes Zuckerberg.
“If I share something with you, like my date of birth, should you be able to take that information with you to other services? We must balance supporting innovation and research with protecting people’s privacy and security.”
Better solution in the long term
Facebook will not agree to all proposals, says Zuckerberg. Millions of smaller companies depend on Facebook's expertise in data analysis.

"I believe that good regulation can hurt Facebook's business in the short term - but in the long term it will be better for everyone, including us," said the Facebook founder.
