Users of various messenger apps are now used to the fact that they have end-to-end encryption. This type of encryption is set up as standard on WhatsApp and Signal. Now Meta is following suit and would like to expand this function as standard in Facebook Messenger.

Expanding end-to-end encryption capabilities in Messenger

In a blog post , Meta announced that the encryption will gradually be rolled out to users.

“We know people want a space to connect and they want to know that those conversations are private, safe and secure. That's why we've spent a lot of time building a team of talented engineers, cryptologists, designers, and policy experts, all committed to bringing standard end-to-end encryption to Messenger. “

The rollout is done randomly.
Users will be informed as soon as the function is available to them. There will also be new functions such as link previews or adjustments for the individual design of encrypted chats, e.g. E.g. chat themes or group profile photos.
