Be careful of private Facebook messages whose sender you don't know! For weeks, Facebook users have been receiving unusual private messages in their accounts.

These are Facebook messages that are located in the “Message Requests” folder. Sending these unwanted messages is a mutation of the “sexy friend request” method. Behind the “sexy friend request” method lies a tough business model designed to take money out of users’ pockets.

These private Facebook messages end up in the message request.

This is completely normal since you are not connected/friended with the corresponding accounts. ( We explain message requests Facebook Messenger: Reading Hidden Messages - Here's How )

These private Facebook messages initially simply consist of a link that reaches the user with different emojis. Anyone who clicks on this link out of curiosity will receive a small message from Facebook in the next step, informing them that they are currently using the link to leave Facebook. An entry page for a dating portal then appears. Caution is advised here, because dubious dating portals can end up being expensive!

Subscription traps and unfair practices.

If you think you're going to see a few private nude pictures of people up close, you'll quickly be disappointed. Likewise, the statement that something is free only refers to registration. This is free, but everything else is not!

There are a lot of fake profiles there (often created by employees, which is often hidden in the terms and conditions) that encourage you to quickly get a paid account so that you can see who has just written to you.

Even if you have decided not to continue using the portal, the email address from the registration there is now known and that is also used: the data is therefore happily passed around. Users who register there are first presented with a huge catalog of questions about sexual preferences and other data, and users who have completed this question odyssey and voluntarily pay money can be fleeced even more!

That's why you can at least be happy about a lot of spam email! You can block these gradually, but there is another trap lurking: the “ trial subscription ”.

Unknown private messages can be expensive!

Many of these sites offer “trial subscriptions” that only cost 1 euro. But this can quickly become very expensive! For example, the website of the law firm Dr. Hoffmann said that users of the sites who never took out a premium subscription or who canceled the subscription process beforehand also received reminder letters from the debt collection company Fairmount GmbH . Such letters must be taken seriously and should not be ignored, which is why it is often necessary to see a lawyer. The Schuster law firm specializes in cover letters with such payment requests.

Our tip: Stay away from private messages from unknown senders with dubious links!
