Whether “Server Network Registry Corporation”, “Social Network Registry Corporation”, “Fanpage Policy Issues” or whatever these sites call themselves: there is phishing behind their scam!

Various company pages or fan pages are tagged in their posts. They are accused of committing copyright infringement. There are also accusations that they did not comply with advertising guidelines or other Facebook standards. Right down to the very general information that the operators of the pages that were marked had violated Facebook's terms of use or meta guidelines.

They all act as if they belong to the meta corporation. The names are different, the content and “results” are always the same.

Only 24 hours left!

To ensure that the sites or accounts of the site operators are not closed due to the alleged violations, you would have to verify your account again - usually within 24 hours - or use an opportunity to object. There is always a link in the posts that - as one would expect - not an official link from Facebook .

The appearance of the pages behind the links is based on those of Facebook / Meta. The login details of the Facebook account and in some cases also the name and telephone number are then requested here.

Phishing!

If you enter your login details here, i.e. username and password, these will be played into the hands of the fraudsters. They can then use the data to access your profile or your Facebook page or group.

The fact that different names are repeatedly used for this scam does not change the fact that this is not an official notification from Facebook / Meta .

Every day we receive requests from users about such posts in which their pages have been tagged. There are also variants in which users receive emails. Here is an overview of the fake sites we have dealt with:

A large number of pages on Facebook are currently being flagged by a “Server Network Registry Corporation” for allegedly committing an undefined violation. The fake accounts always have the name “Server Network Registry Corporation” followed by a random number.

Currently, several Facebook pages with the name “Social Network Registry Corporation” are tagging various companies and want to lure them to a fake page! The fake accounts always have the name “Social Network Registry Corporation” followed by any number.

We were amazed when we received a notification from “Page Protection Identity” on Facebook: Apparently our page had been reported and we had to re-verify it. However, there is a phishing scam behind this!

More fake sites

Users have sent us additional screenshots of posts in which their pages were tagged and which allegedly violated Facebook/Meta standards. As a reminder: the names vary, but in the end it always boils down to phishing.

“Too late, I have already submitted my details”

If you run a company page or fan page on Facebook and have entered your data into such a form, please change your password quickly if this is still possible!
Otherwise, only Facebook support will be able to help you get back to your site... and unfortunately that can sometimes take a long time.
