Facebook promises more clarity and transparency when it comes to data protection and terms of use

As announced in the Facebook Newsroom , the social media giant is changing its data protection and terms of use to provide greater clarity and transparency.

According to heise online, the information about data collection is now formulated in more detail and no additional information will be collected with the new rules. In the future, Facebook wants to access information such as the names of apps and files and register mouse movements in order to find out whether they are real people and not bots. Group services, such as Instagram, will also operate in accordance with the new data protection and terms of use.

However, nothing should change in terms of data processing itself.

The new data protection conditions in Europe are largely due to the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which comes into force in May 2018.

The plan is to introduce the facial recognition function in Europe and download data in a machine-readable format and bring it to another service. However, they are only explained in detail as user rights in the EU version of the Facebook documents, according to heise online.
