Statement from the Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch police station on a Facebook post about a suspected rapist.
A message is currently being spread on social media warning women in Delmenhorst about a suspected rapist. The man is supposed to ring the doorbell of strangers and overpower the female residents.
The Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch police station cannot confirm this fact. There has never been a situation of this kind in its entire area of responsibility.
Investigations by the responsible specialist commissioner this morning have shown that the facts posted on Facebook relate to a past relationship between people known here.

Corresponding investigations have already been conducted and completed in the past. Thanks to the “silent post principle”, this issue has now been expanded and communicated from the private environment.
Obtain information from the police station
Before using social media as a communication and dissemination platform, it is advised to contact the local police station and report any information about possible criminal behavior. The police in particular are interested in clarifying and prosecuting any crime.
In this case, the post on Facebook caused many women to become frightened after it spread uncontrollably on social media.
Such “fake news” causes incidents that are actually important to the population to fade into the background or appear unbelievable.
