No – as of today there are no new Facebook rules! It is a chain letter that has been causing mischief on Facebook for years.

Facebook users share a revocation on Facebook that is intended to prevent a new rule

From March 3, 2020, Facebook will be allowed to use your photos and publish everything you have ever posted.
It is a chain letter construct that consists of various chain letters.

It's about the following revocation notice that is circulating on Facebook:

Don't forget tomorrow, March 3rd, 2020, the new Facebook rule begins where you can use your photos.
Don't forget the deadline is today!!! It can be used against you in legal proceedings. Everything you've ever posted will become public starting today - including messages that have been deleted. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. I do not grant permission to Facebook or any Facebook affiliated organizations to use my images, information, messages or posts, both past and future.
With this declaration I inform Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to copy, distribute or take any other action against me based on this profile and / or its content. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. Violation of privacy can be punished by law: Facebook is now a public institution. All members must post such a note. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. Failure to post a statement at least once will tacitly allow use of your photos and information in profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. Copy and paste.

The fact check

We reported on a very similar text at the end of February. ( look here )

The bottom line is the same: “Today” – in this case March 3, 2020 – a new Facebook rule will take effect to the detriment of users. In order to oppose this, the revocation should be posted. ... Nice story, but completely fictional!

This and similar information has been circulating on Facebook for years. It represents a construct of many different chain letters and already exists in many different versions. One of them includes a part with the Rome Statute . For others it is simply a matter of Facebook taking over all rights over the profile.

No matter which version you see on your news feed, they are all not true.

Just the vague time reference of “tomorrow and today” doesn’t quite work, because the text has been copied and shared on Facebook for years. Theoretically, everything in the last three to five years should have been published by everyone who did NOT post this “statement” back then… and what happened? Exactly, nothing!

In this case, a date was added - and nothing happened in this case either. The changes mentioned simply do not exist.

Conclusion

Don't worry, there is no deadline and you don't need to post a cancellation notice on your news feed.

Regardless of the version, the text is a persistent chain letter construct that spreads false information. Because there is no way that everything will be posted publicly “tomorrow or today”.
