The “security team” tagged you in a picture on Facebook?

Then be careful, because this fake site does not have Facebook as its sponsor. It's scary when you're suddenly tagged in a photo by the "Security Team" page and then read this or a similar text:

Facebook™ Security

The user is quickly tempted to think that he has actually done something wrong. But in reality, it is a popular scam that has been circulating on Facebook for years.

If you log in to the external site, criminals get hold of your login data!

The stitch

The scammers create pages and pretend to be Facebook. This goes by many different names, such as account lockout or security team. Facebook Security is particularly popular .

It is then specified that the account is about to be blocked. To avoid this, the account owner should log in again. The user is lured to a fake Facebook login page via an external link:

If you hand over your data to the criminals , will take over your private profile as well as all associated pages and groups where the victim has admin rights .

So you need to be extremely careful with these fraud attempts!

Again as a summary:

  1. Fraudsters create a page called, for example, “FBSecurity Notice” or, as in the current case: “Security Team”.
  2. They use the initials of Facebook (fb) or the “F” Facebook logo itself as their profile picture. This gives the page mentioned an official character.
  3. In the next step, they browse Facebook profiles and, as in this case, share cover photos. Since cover photos are always “public”, this is very easy to do.
  4. From the moment the page mentioned shares the cover photo of the respective admin/site operator, they will also receive a notification and automatically follow the notice.

In the past, however, personal messages have been sent or you have been tagged directly in a photo. No matter how these scammers contact you as a user - under no circumstances follow this link or do NOT enter your data!
