This tool calculates and assigns a “Friendship Score” for each connection between users by analyzing their interactions, shared interests, and the length of their friendship. This is reported by manager Aprilina Petalbrook from FB-Heaquater from Palo Alto

The friendship quantifier is divided into three categories:

  1. Best Friends (100-80 points)
  2. Good friends (79-40 points)
  3. Acquaintances (39-0 points)

The score can be viewed on each friend's profile page and is updated daily to reflect changes in friendship status.

But that's not all!

Facebook plans to integrate the Friendship Quantifier into its advertising and recommendation algorithms to provide users with tailored friendship offers.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg commented on the introduction of the friendship quantifier as follows:

“Friendships are at the heart of Facebook, and we’re excited to bring this innovative tool to our users to help them better understand and nurture their social relationships.”

Our opinion on this Facebook innovation:

Yeh!
