Facebook Security, Settings Page, Security Team and now Account Suspension… these scammers go by many names!

When “Facebook” blocks your account, alarm bells ring for us!

Users are again sending us inquiries about a “Facebook profile” that seems a little dubious. Under the name “Account Blocking” and with a Facebook profile picture, fraudsters try to get the login data of Facebook users. They claim that the account has been blocked and that you have to confirm your user account in order to avoid the account being closed:

Facebook Security™

And as strange as it looks, it is:

Because it is a phishing attempt!

The stitch

The scammers create pages and pretend to be Facebook. This goes by many different names, such as account lockout or security team. Facebook Security is particularly popular .

It is then specified that the account is about to be blocked. To avoid this, the account owner should log in again.

The user is lured to a fake Facebook login page via an external link:

twoIf you hand over your data to the criminals , will take over your private profile as well as all associated pages and groups where the victim has admin rights .

So you need to be extremely careful with these fraud attempts!

Again as a summary:

  1. Fraudsters create a page called, for example, “FBSecurity Notice” or as in the current case: “Settings Page”.
  2. They use the initials of Facebook (fb) or the “F” Facebook logo itself as their profile picture. This gives the page mentioned an official character.
  3. In the next step, they browse Facebook profiles and, as in this case, share cover photos. Since cover photos are always “public”, this is very easy to do.
  4. From the moment the named page shares the cover photo of the respective admin/site operator, they will also receive a notification and automatically follow the notice

Result:

Scammers create pages and impersonate Facebook. The fraudsters then mark or share various images and steal access data from users who are lured to a login mask via the external link.

Under no circumstances do you follow this link or do NOT enter your details!
