We are currently receiving information from many affected Facebook users that they have either unintentionally shared a status post or that they have been tagged in a status post.

At the moment it is this status post / wording: “Guys, you should definitely take a look at this! Even BILD reported on it. I'll start with it today, while it's possible.. ? Take a look at the comments!” Including the following comment: “Read this ?? That was at the Lion's Den broadcast! (Link)"

This is a Facebook worm.

There is currently no way to say why users are publishing this status post at the moment. In our experience, these users may have installed either a dubious app or a browser extension. We recommend that affected users check their installed apps and browser extensions and change their Facebook password.

If you are marked, you will receive a notification. Unfortunately, many users also click on the link that appears in the comments. This link leads to a fake website that is similar to that of the “Bild” newspaper.

On this website, links to a Bitcoin site are constantly hidden.

And this is exactly where the risk lies. This nasty scam aims to lure users into the Bitcoin trap. We reported on it.

Conclusion:

So this is a type of viral worm. The accounts that tag others on Facebook have not actively done so. The owners of the accounts usually have no idea that their accounts on Facebook are tagging other participants and luring them into a trap.

Affected users should check their apps and browser extensions and change their password on Facebook. Marked users, in turn, should not follow the request and should not click on the link in the comment.
