The company now offers a completely dedicated area for past moments on Facebook
As the Facebook Newsroom announced on June 12, 2018, a feature called “Memories” has been integrated into the popular platform.
The new feature is about creating a special place for past moments shared with your friends and family on Facebook.
According to the company, more than 90 million people use the “On This Day” function to relive memories and share them with their contacts. Research has also shown that “this type of reflection can have a positive impact on people’s mood and general well-being.”

That's why Facebook now wants to create its own place for these memories and is linking the following areas, among others:
- “On This Day” remains unchanged and continues to offer the opportunity to share past moments again.
- “Friends Made On This Day” shows a list of friends you added that day. To properly celebrate the friendship, special videos and collages can be seen.
- “Recaps of Memories” offers the possibility to summarize seasonal or monthly repetitions of memories in a message or a short video.
- “Memories You May Have Missed” features posts you might have missed over the past week if you haven't checked your memories recently.
Facebook emphasizes that you can still access the memories via the bookmark, which is located to the left of the news feed on the desktop version or under the “more” tab if you are using a smartphone. You can also edit this section facebook.com/memories
