At Mimikama, we are committed to strengthening users' ability to critically evaluate information and make their own decisions. We don't believe in developing an app that does the thinking for users. Our work focuses on awareness, prevention and education - we want to encourage users to become 'fact-lovers' themselves by learning to recognize and question misinformation.

Why the perfect “fact friend” fake news app remains an illusion
Sometimes we hear the question: “Why doesn’t Mimikama just make an app that filters out all fake news and hoaxes?” The short answer is: It’s technically almost impossible to develop such a tool.
Fake news is a moving target. They are constantly changing and adapting to new situations, technologies and contexts. An application that could analyze and filter all forms of misinformation in real time would be a herculean task. In addition, such an application would have to be able to analyze an enormous amount of data and take into account complex questions such as context, sentence structure, source credibility, etc. The sheer complexity of this task makes it technically very difficult, if not impossible.
Mimikama's philosophy: awareness, prevention, education
At Mimikama, we don’t just see the problem from a technical perspective. We believe that it is fundamentally problematic to do the thinking for users. Our goal is not to create a technological “patent solution” to the problem of fake news. Instead, we focus on awareness, prevention and education .
We believe it is crucial to train people to recognize and challenge misinformation themselves. It's not just about recognizing fake news, but also understanding how and why it arises and spreads. Through awareness and education, we can empower people to become critical consumers of news and information.
The danger of complete dependence on technology
Complete dependence on a technical tool or app also carries risks. If we rely too heavily on technology to filter out fake news, we risk neglecting our critical thinking. A tool could lull us into a false sense of security and lead us to question information less critically because we trust the tool to filter out any misinformation for us.
There is also a risk that such tools are buggy. No AI is perfect and there is always a chance that it will incorrectly identify real news as fake news or vice versa. People are and will remain an indispensable part of the process of identifying false reports.
Mimikama's Fact Friend
If we were to develop a tool at Mimikama, it would probably be called “Fact Friend” – a name that reflects our philosophy. It would not claim to be the ultimate answer to the problem of fake news. Instead, it would serve as a compass to help people find their own path in the often confusing world of online information. It is intended to encourage people to critically question information, check sources and make informed decisions themselves.
Because at Mimikama we believe that the best way to combat fake news is to empower and encourage each individual to be part of the solution. Through awareness, prevention and education, we can work together to stem the tide of false reports.
We would be happy to advise you and work together to develop a target group-oriented event and solution to promote media competence and media education! Requests
