Be careful: there are currently fake Apple invoices circulating that simulate an App Store purchase. The email leads to credit card fraud.
The Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office warns of fake Apple invoices that simulate an App Store purchase.
The scam is not new; almost identical-looking emails were already circulating in October, suggesting that you or someone else had bought something using your Apple ID.
However, the current wave differs in one important detail: the fraudsters require the upload of personal documents or selfies.
The content of the emails can vary, but they all want to draw attention to an attached PDF file. Particularly noteworthy is the lack of a personal salutation and Apple ID.
The PDF then provides the option to cancel or report a problem. Anyone who then clicks on the link will be taken to a fake website with an Apple design.
Depending on the device, the final web address is displayed more or less clearly in the address bar. Obviously, the aim here is to increasingly target mobile end users, who will then not be able to recognize the actual destination without taking a closer look (see address area marked in red).

Anyone who has then entered their login details and would like to revoke the intended payment by “Cancel now” will now be asked to enter their personal and payment details.
You should then upload a selfie with your credit card in your hand. Anyone who has “successfully” transmitted their data to the perpetrators will then be redirected to the real Apple website after a success message.
How should I behave?
Anyone who has already fallen for the scam should contact Apple Support immediately or log in to the real Apple ID website and change their access data . It is advisable to set up additional security (e.g. 2-factor authentication).
In addition, a report should then be filed with the local police station
By networking the devices via the cloud, strangers can access data and devices using the Apple ID and, if necessary, lock/delete them remotely. Blackmail is also possible here.

Furthermore, the credit institution or bank whose payment details you entered and uploaded as a selfie should be notified immediately. The card should be blocked by the bank. In urgent cases you can also do this via 116 116.
Unfortunately, the uploaded identity card document can be misused by the perpetrators for various purposes online (fraud, opening accounts, etc.). It is important that you point this out when submitting your advertisement. You can also find further information on this topic here .
