It's actually every fan's dream: the adored celebrity contacts you personally with a message!
Unfortunately, the real celebrity usually doesn't know anything about this, because there are many fake profiles on Facebook that only pretend to be the real person. A current example is the pop singer GG Anderson, who warns about fake profiles under his name on Facebook:

„‼️DANGER! DANGER! ‼️
There are currently a lot of friend requests and PMs from this profile.
It's a fake!!!!!
I would like to make it very clear that I am NOT behind this! I have a completely different private profile!”
GG Anderson is not an isolated case; Otto Waalkes and Axel Prahl have also been copied on Facebook.

What do the fake celebrities want?
In short: money.
In August we reported on a fake account by Otto Waalkes, who allegedly founded an aid organization and was now writing to individual fans to ask for donations. Unfortunately, the official donation page isn't ready yet, but you can already transfer money via Western Union.
It is probably more than a coincidence that Western Union is also mostly used by scammers from the “ Nigeria Connection ” and “ Romance Scammers
Look at the profiles of the supposed celebrities!
Even if the name and profile picture appear real, if you look at the Facebook profile of the person writing to you, you will quickly notice that it was only recently created and is only posing as that prominent person.

Summary
Scammers create fake profiles of celebrities on Facebook and write to fans of that celebrity. The news then asks for donations in more or less bad German. This money doesn't go to a charitable organization, but directly into the pockets of the fraudsters!
The easiest way to throw these scammers off track is to ask questions they are not prepared for, as the texts they copy into the chat no longer make sense. While you're having fun with the fake celebrity, you can also report the profile to Facebook and thereby protect other users from this scam. ?
