We received an inquiry about an alleged competition from “Deichmann Deutschland” on Facebook. The user informed us about this fake (many thanks at this point) and also sent us screenshots.
The supposed competition was designed quite simply; you were supposed to see which numbers apart from “505” could be recognized in a graphic that was littered with numbers. The text reads: “Today the Deichmann Germany team is giving away a shopping voucher worth €500 to the first 250 people who correctly guess a number other than (505)…”
The logo has been compressed, which is unlikely to be the case on an official site would happen.
The page that was reported to us by the user was no longer online at the time, but we were easily able to find 13 (!) other “Deichmann Germany” pages on Facebook that were organizing such a competition with different numbers. 12 of these pages were created on Facebook between May 20th and 22nd. One of them is from April 13th, but here too such a “competition” was posted on May 20th.
A look at the page transparency of the different pages also shows that the category has different information. Mostly “shopping center” or “shopping service”, but “real estate” has also crept in under it.
You can find the real Deichmann pages here: Deichmann (Germany) and Deichmann (Austria) . Other company pages come from company branches. But the “Deichmann Germany” pages mentioned above have nothing to do with the shoe retail chain.
We took part
So to test what happens when you take part in such a competition, we took part. So on one of the many pages we commented with what was actually a wrong answer, which didn't even contain a number, but only reflected our first thought about the "competition": "Please go," was our Viennese answer, which roughly translated to "Oh, come on!" " means.

We promptly received a message via messenger.

We ignored point 1 “Like and share our posts in your Facebook group or your profile” and this time answered with a number – as requested – but this is also wrong. However, the message bot doesn't care about that, it sends us a link to register, after which we will probably immediately collect our winnings.
We tested that too
We have gone through this “registration”, so please do not test it yourself! Thanks.
When you click on the link, we will be redirected to a page with the URL “deichmann2022realblogspot”. A reputable company would not use such a domain. Not even for time-limited competitions. Therefore, please always take a look at the URL. A check on the company’s official website can also help here. It stands to reason that current competitions can also be found here.
First we see a page that contains the Deichmann logo, but is not from the company itself.
You should click on “Next”, which is shown here as the “Continue” button. You then get to a seemingly endless page that contains the “Register” button twice so that you can’t miss it. If you scroll down a little on this page, the information suddenly appears that you can win a €500 voucher from LIDL.
The lowercase letters are also not insignificant. On the one hand, there is talk of a “sponsorship team” that will ask you a few questions. You should also register your email address here and then “download one of the applications in the link”. Once you have done this, you will receive a code by email that you can redeem at Deichmann for a €250-500 voucher.
A tiny input field labeled “Enter your winning data!” has five fields and an instruction text that you have to accept. Here you give your consent to receive emails and push notifications in the future. You also agree to the data being passed on “to the partners”.
We ignore this “form” and click “Register”. Here we are redirected again. Go to Google Play to download an app. At this point we have ended the test.
Conclusion
This competition is a fake and takes place in the name of Deichmann. However, the company has nothing to do with it.
The alleged winnings fluctuate between a €500 voucher from Deichmann, later €250-500, but a LIDL voucher is also promised. – Highly dubious.
In the end, the fraudsters behind this fake competition receive your data, permission to pass it on, and you probably download another app onto your cell phone through which you will receive further dubious advertising or, in the worst case, even malware.
Long story short: stay away!
