Have you recently received an email that appears to be from bank99? Have you been asked to activate the “Okay99 App”? Our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet urges caution! This is a fake email that criminals use to try to get your bank details. If you clicked on the link and entered your details, you were actually giving your credentials to criminals.

What happens when you click “Start Activation”?

  • You will be taken to a fake login page.
  • You can tell that you are not on the real login page by looking at the internet address. This is completely implausible and does not belong to bank99.
  • Data you enter there ends up directly with criminals.

How to recognize phishing emails

  • Pay attention to the email address . Fraudulent messages are sent from addresses that have nothing to do with the bank.
  • Links in emails are suspicious. Never click on a button too quickly.
  • You will not be addressed personally (only “Dear Customer”).
  • Spelling and grammatical errors indicate fraud.
  • As always, log in . If action were required, it would appear in your account. You can also ask the bank whether this email actually comes from them.
Move fraudulent emails to your spam folder. This will help your email program learn to recognize spam better in the future.

Did you click “Start Activation”?

  • If you received this email but didn't click on it, simply delete the message or move it to the spam folder.
  • Have you clicked the link and entered data? Contact your bank as soon as possible. Your account may need to be suspended.
  • Did you just access the page but didn't type anything? Don't worry, nothing should have happened!
