Instagram, the popular platform for sharing photos and videos, has a problem like Twitter: many users use various apps to automatically comment and like.

The purpose of these apps is to generate new followers. For example, they ensure that comments such as “nice” and “lovely” are always added to certain hashtags, as “ AllFacebook ” reports. In addition, the “follow-unfollow” principle often applies on Instagram: through these apps you automatically follow other users, but if you do not follow them back, you will be unfollowed again. This principle is also often found on Twitter.

Instagram, however, is now declaring war on these methods!

In a press release on Instagram, they announced their observation that more and more users are using these third-party apps to artificially increase their number of followers.
Instagram, however, as they write, would rather offer users real interactions. Since November 19, 2018, all comments, likes and follows that came about through third-party apps have been rigorously deleted. To do this, Instagramm uses tools that self-learn and recognize inauthentic comments and accounts and take action against them accordingly.

Users receive a yellow card

However, users who are suspected of using such third-party apps will not be blocked and deleted immediately, but will first receive a warning in the form of an in-app message.

The users are recognized because they have given their username and password to third-party apps so that these apps can operate and manage Instagram according to their functions.
Instagram uses this mechanism to recognize when the same login is suddenly no longer only used by a smartphone, but also by another app. Apart from that, the security of the account is no longer guaranteed, as these apps could do all sorts of things with the logins.

Innocent? No panic!

It often happens that users unknowingly share their login information with a third-party app, which is why Instagram also offers these users the option to simply change their password.
As a result, those apps, regardless of whether they knowingly or unknowingly shared the login, no longer have access to the Instagram account.

Instagram announces further measures.
The above process is not a one-time action, but will now continuously check accounts, likes and comments. A really good step to make Instagram more authentic for users again!
