Fake news? I won't fall for it! You can recognize it immediately. I also don't fall for phishing or other nonsense on the Internet.
Yes, you read sentences like that again and again. We are all so media-savvy and immune to fake news. We've all eaten cyber wisdom with a spoon and are completely familiar with it.
It's always other people who are stupid. They fall for false reports. And anyone who claims that I fell for a hoax is just trying to shift the blame. Poor sausages.

Don't fall for fake news? Wrong thinking, because the problem is that you usually don't even notice when you fall for something because it simply has no noticeable consequences.
Of course you fall for false reports. There are various reasons why false reports are fully believed. For example, if you already have prejudices or a certain bias towards a topic based on personal opinions. The term “bias” is often used in the context of social media.
In these cases, fake news meets a preconceived opinion. Anyone who is not critical of their own opinion, who does not allow that another point of view can also be correct, accepts a false report uncritically in order to further consolidate their own opinion.

This is generally how it is when you want to support your own point of view, every little bit of supposed evidence is used to strengthen the foundation. And that's exactly when it can happen that someone simply doesn't notice when a false report appears. Like in the following example case.
Armin Wolf and the book: Fake news!
It's about a sponsored post on Facebook and the Austrian news presenter Armin Wolf. The following post recently appeared on Facebook ( if it still exists, then here ):

To be clear: Armin Wolf has absolutely nothing to do with this post or the link to a book that is supposed to be sold there. This is a stark shortening of the three-step method of commercial fake news ( described here ).
What happened there? The so-called fabricated content, i.e. the pseudo-journalistic middle section, has simply been removed from the three-step model and lured directly into a commission program via bait on social media. In short: Something is supposed to be sold here, but the supposed advertiser has nothing to do with the product and has never agreed to this form of advertising. He doesn't even get any money.
Do users notice this?
Now we come to the next problem: apart from the misuse of a prominent person's image, many people don't even notice that they have been exposed to fake news with a commercial purpose. This is shown by an excerpt from the comments:

The fake news has basically achieved what it wanted: it remains largely unnoticed. Instead, a discussion breaks out about the moderator. In the end, this is a fatal signal because it shows those behind this method that they have a certain degree of viral success.
And it shows us at Mimikama that despite the big noise, many people are simply triggered by fake news and don't even notice when something is wrong. Of course, these people probably didn't buy the book linked behind it, but the posting on social media still got them discussing a topic.
Celebrities exploited for advertising purposes.
This method is not new, but it is constantly being refined. Together with SWR Marktcheck we have explained in an article how this fraud works. Thomas Gottschalk also commented on the article, which also has to be used for fake news advertising. Here is the post from October 15, 2019:
So remember: The most dangerous thing is always the fake news that you don't even notice because it fits perfectly into your own worldview. It becomes easier at this point if you critically reflect on your own opinions.
