The summer wave of fake shops is currently at its peak: at the moment we are constantly receiving inquiries about a wide variety of online shops - including lamalleauxmedias.

Be it technology, tools or clothing – the products must be well-known and consistently offered at reduced prices. This is what fake shops look like!

Fraudsters want to use these to get access to internet users’ money and bank details.

More and more often, the websites of such fake shops are so professionally designed that they cannot be distinguished from reputable providers at first glance.

Our hearts break when we find requests like this in our inbox:

When placing an order, after entering the credit card details, I only received error messages.
Payment process could not be completed. The imprint is missing on the page. The credit card was blocked as a precaution. The site looks very much like a fake shop.

It's about a webshop called "lamalleauxmedias" (French - means something like "the media regulars' table" in German), which offers branded clothing for women:

It hurts to lose your money or bank details to such fraudsters.

The dough is gone, you don't receive any goods and if you don't notice the fraud quickly enough, the criminal can make big purchases with the credit card details. However, those who keep their eyes open or who know what to look out for can better recognize the signs of a fake shop.

Dumping prices as far as the eye can see!

If you scroll through the item lists, you will notice that every item, without exception, has a reduced price. A feature of many fake shops!

Fraudsters want to lure their victims with cheap offers on what are actually high-priced branded clothing and entice them to make a purchase.

If all items are consistently available at strangely low prices and there are no other products that have not been reduced, you should definitely be suspicious.

No retailer is economically able to make enough profit to survive at such dumping prices!

But there are other points that indicate a fake shop.

Healthy mistrust of anonymous sellers

A reputable seller or dealer will always be transparent. You know who you are buying from, where they are located and whether the company is even legal.

All of this information can theoretically be found in an imprint .

Name, address and, if applicable, a VAT identification number are important in order to confirm the credibility of a seller. Fraudsters often try to blind their victims by copying and misusing other people's identities.

If the general terms and conditions or incorrect, caution should also be exercised. The consumer advice center knows:

When conducting legal transactions on the Internet, consumers must be given access to the general terms and conditions valid at the time the contract is concluded at any time.

Unfortunately, neither an imprint nor any other information about the seller can be found on “lamalleauxmedias”. So he prefers to appear anonymous, which should mean that the buyer should exercise healthy suspicion!

Whois check of the website at least shows that the site comes from China. Nevertheless, the site is anything but transparent and therefore not trustworthy.

Payment in advance, instant transfer, only with credit card? – personal data and money are gone so quickly!

Even with very poor information or limited payment methods, alarm bells should ring. Even if several payment options were listed, many fraudsters resort to tricks, for example in the case of our request that technical problems occur.

If you are “forced” to use a single payment method, you should refrain from making a purchase.

However, if you have already transferred money to a fake shop, you can try to get the money back through your house bank and block your old credit card immediately.

If you are unsure but still buy from such a shop, you should ensure that every step you take is documented. And even if it is difficult to prosecute perpetrators who operate from abroad, you should file a report with the police in order to at least expedite the deletion of the fake shop.

Our tip: Don't make impulse purchases and check a seller thoroughly before putting data into someone else's hands or investing money!
