The police warn against fake shops that offer electronic goods. Anyone who buys here will not receive any goods.

Several cases of fake shops: There are currently an increasing number of advertisements in the city of Erfurt from buyers who have ordered electronic goods online.

Customers bought, among other things, a Playstation, oven, refrigerator, coffee machine and paid via bank transfer. However, they did not receive any goods because the companies named in the respective imprint do not exist or information from reputable companies was misused. The fraudsters are always creating new, professional-looking online shops.

Irish bank details

All have an Irish destination bank account in common. These can be recognized by the country abbreviation. Instead of “DE” for Germany, there is “IE” for Ireland or (more rarely) “ES” for Spain. In principle, reputable companies also offer German customers transfer destinations in Germany.

Multiple payment methods (and not just bank transfer) are also possible. So far, over a dozen victims have been reported to the Erfurt criminal police alone. Nationwide there are probably several thousand. The financial damages range from several hundred to over a thousand euros.

The police advise:

Before making an online purchase, research the shop name using keywords such as fake shop or fraud.

www.auktionshilfe.info provides advice, among other things, where such fake shops are listed with additional information.

If you see a foreign IBAN during the payment process, cancel the purchase and do not transfer it.
